New Zealand and Japan

The biggest same point between New Zealand and Japan is Island country. Therefore, there are many point that we can compare Japan and New Zealand.
The longest river is Waikato in the North Island. The length is 425 KM/264 miles. This is like Shinano River(Chikuma river) in point of the largest river in the country. This river is 367KM. Lake Taupo on North Island is the largest lake. This has 607 sq KM/235 sq miles. This is like “Lake Biwa” in Shiga prefecture and has about 670 sq KM. If you know more about Lake Taupo, please check this site. Mt. Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan and the highest point is 3776m. New Zealand’s highest mountain is Mt. Cook’(Aoraki in Maori) and 3754m. This mountain is on South Island. This site is good to watch Mt.Cook from sky.

Geography about New Zealand

Our group research about geography of New Zealand.　New Zealand has many interesting geography such as volcano, hot spring, beautiful lakes and beautiful mountains. So I think Google map and Google Earth is good resources. However, you need to install (free) to use Google Earth. Google Earth is useful for us to know the landform. Because of two plates, there are many volcano and hot springs in North Island. In south Island, there are many high mountains covered with snow. Southern Alps are long mountain running 500 kilometer.
I will go tot New Zealand next February. So I am very interested in New Zealand’s　geography and natures. If you know about this country’s nature and geography, you will become to want to go there!!

Speech of Oktoberfest

I’d like to talk about history of “Oktoberfest”.
In 1810, Princess Therese and Prince Ludwing were married, and this festival was held as their wedding celebration. The purpose of this festival is giving thanks to crops and nature and sharing the joy with their family. At first, this festival was held in October, but now is in September. Because middle of October is cold. So people can not enjoy this festival at night. If this festival is held in September, people can enjoy long time, so this festival is moved in September. However, Octoberfest weekend is left in October traditionally.
In USA, there is “Oktoberfest USA”. In 1960, civic leaders thought that they need an event which everyone enjoy. In same time, a company was thinking their annual event. This news was spread rapidly and civic leaders caught the news. Finally, 2 Germanys who worked at beer house caught the news and suggested to leaders a festival like an “Octoberfest” in German. This festival is good in 2points. First, leaves turned their color in fall. So, this season is very beautiful. Second, harvest is finished in this season and preparation for winter is begun. So people can perpetrate for festival easily. The company agreed the festival and they sponsored this festival.

Oktoberfesta was begun at Munich as a wedding cerebration of Princess Therese and Prince Ludwing on October 12th to 17th in 1810.In this ceremony, they thanks to almost all of crops and nature. They enjoyed the ceremony with their family. This festival originated in Germany, and here is very famous for beer!! So, in this festival, people drink much beer. At noon (12pm), the St. Paul's Church in Munich strikes the clock and official opening ceremony starts. After the time, people enter beer tent. Beer tent was open the barrel and visitors can drink beer. This ceremony was very beautiful so visitors come at 9am and wait for 3 hours in order to watch good seat. Of course, children can do not drink beer so they must leave the tent before 8pm even if they are with their parents. The most interesting thing in this festival is the Trachtenfest parade. Many people from all over the Germany wear their traditional clothes. Musicians and beer wagons are decorated and decorated horses are pull people and wagon. They walk the downtown. In USA, there are Octoberfest. This originates Octoberfest in Germany.
This year Octoberfest was held in September. This festival is called “Octoberfest” but why in September?? Because weather condition in September is better than October. Movie

My favorite movie is “No Reservations”. Japanese title is “幸せのレシピ”. This is romantic comedy and leading actress is Catherine Zeta-Jones (Kate). Co-stars are Aaron Eckhart (Nick) and Abigail Breslin (Zoe).Kate is a French cook and Nick is an Italian cook. Zoe is Kate’s niece. Kate is a chef in a high grade restaurant. She is perfect to all things and does all things by herself. Therefore she does not depend on anyone and does not trust anyone. She can finish over ten dishes at once. One day, her older sister dies by a car accident suddenly. Her sister has a child, Zoe. Zoe could survive but she has a wounded heart. Kate also very sad. Kate's sister had no husband, so Zoe has no family. Consequently, Kate has to live with Zoe. Kate is confused new life and took a rest. But, she is the chef of a restaurant and worried about it. One day, Kate goes to restaurant, but other chef there is, Nick. Nick’s thinking is enjoying the life, so Kate and Nick do not get along with. However, Zoe opens her heart to Nick. As a result, Kate and Nick are attracted each other.
This movie is useful for studying English. I watched this movie’s DVD 2 times. First time, I used Japanese subtitle and English sound. 2nd time, I used English subtitle and English sound. Using English subtitle is useful for rapid reading. Because, the time we can read the subtitle is limited and this movie’s English subtitle is easy to understand. I love “Lion King”!!　“Lion King” is Disney movie and musical. The scene of this movie is on a savanna in Africa. Simba is the son of King, Mufasa, and Nara is fiancé of Symba. However, Mufasa’s younger brother, Scar, would like to be a king. He leads on with Symba to dangerous area and makes a dangerous situation on purpose. Fortunately, Mufasa arrives to rescue his son from the situation, but, Mufasa dies in place of his son. Therefore, Scar blames Symba and Symba leaves his hometown. Consequently, there is no king and this is Scar’s purpose. He becomes the King. Mufasa’s kingdom is very very good, everyone is happy, but Scar’s kingdom is really bad. No food and no drink. So, Nara looks for Symba and she find Symba. He comes back to his hometown and becomes the king. This story became a movie and plays all over the world, of course in Japan. My summer vacation

My summer vacation

Almost all of my vacation was spent working part time. But I played a lot with my friends. I belong to tea ceremony club and our club have tea party at our tea teacher’s house. I and our friends wore “YUKATA”. We are very cute and took many pictures. Of course we practice tea ceremony but enjoyed tea and sweets. We do round a day, so we and our teacher are very tired. We took bus to our teacher’s house, but we have to walk from a bus stop to the house. The day is very hot, so we are very sweat. I didn’t wear YUKATA in the daytime. Until then, I wear in night. So it’s very hard for me.

August 20nd was my friend’s birthday. So I and my friend planed a birthday surprise party. The birthday girl did not know the party was for her. I made lunch and a birthday cake. Preparation for cake was great!! But the birthday girl was late about two hours :-( So I and my friend put the finishing touch to lunch. After the arriving the girl, we started meal. We enjoyed talking and foods. They said my food was very delicious. So I was very very happyJ At last, I and my friend sang “Happy Birthday”. The birthday girl was very surprised. So we achieved our purpose. With same member, I went “Hirokouji Festival”. I and one of my fried wore YUKATA. We watched a stage of a band and eat foods. When we went back to each home, one foreigner talked to us and he said he wants to take a picture of us. Maybe we wore YUKATA so he wanted to take a picture. We were very surprised and confused. But, he took a picture quickly and left with him friend.

I live by myself so I back to my home town only 1 week. My home town is Nagano. I relaxed so much. 1week was so short that I spent at my home and went out with my parents on weekend. I picked grapes. I went "Miharashi Farm" Vineyard was full of grapes’ sweet smell. We have a lot of grapes and bought souvenirs. After this, we went fireworks festival in Suwako. Suwako is the biggest lake in Nagano. It was the first fireworks for me in this year. So, I was much exited. The day was reported that it was rain, but we had no rain. So fireworks are excellent!! If you want to see good photos, please go this site. On Sunday, I went my grandparents’ home with my mother. They were very looking forward to seeing me. So the next day, I went their home again before I back to Nagoya.

On September 11th, I went Haneda Airport with NUFS AIRLINES members. We left at Nagoya station at 7 o’clock on the morning and backed over 10 o’clock on the evening. This day was very hard schedule for us but very exiting and full. We visit garage, training center, met our OG and so on. We watched planes very near and met cabin attendant and grand staff. This experience is very useful for our future.

To be in good health, meal is very important in our life. Do you confident that you have good meal three times a day? I have no confidence. Now, I live by myself so my meals are terrible. Therefore, I’m interested in health and meal.

Eating 　Habit

If your meal is not good balance, you will become some diseases such as heart disease and cerebrovascular (脳卒中). Generally speaking, American meals are too fat. On the other hand, Japanese foods are very healthy. But Japanese food also has a bad point. It is that Japanese food is salty. Recently, American food is very popular in Japan. As a result, many Japanese put on too fat, especially men. Too fat and too salty is big reason to become disease. So, recently, overweight is big problem. Too Skinny

Women of all over the world tend to think that they should be slender. So, they do excessive diet, especially the job of model. In February 12, some models are banned to appear a fashion show. She’d like to be more and more slender, but they are too slim. So, their bosses had them to do medical examination and send home. It is consider that a BMI between 16 and 25 is healthy under 60. Syokuiku

Now, Japanese school education is focused on “syokuiku”. Today, children are depends on their meal to fast food and convenience store. So, family members don’t eat together. As a result, they are not healthy. This is big problem. One big issue of “syokuiku” is “kosyoku”. It has three types. These are “個食” ”孤食” ”固食”.
“個食” means family members eat together but they eat different menu or different room of home. “孤食” means eating only, especially only child. “固食” means to continue eating same things. RAKUGO=comic story

At hospital of OSAKA, Nurses and welfare staffs are taught a skill of talking with laugh by professional comic storyteller and comic duo. These professional comic storyteller and duo belong to YOSIMOTO KOUGYOU. This challenge is the first thing in Japan. Nurses and staffs train and demonstrate the skill. Purpose of this challenge is using this skill in everyday conversation to relax patients.
Laughs excite brain. Patients’ bodies are stronger if they laugh. In addition, laugh is prevention that brains become not to work well.

　My favorite comedy movie is “THE 有頂天(utyoutenn) ホテル(hotel)”.
Director of this movie is KOUKI MITANI. Story of this movie is the New Year’s Eve. The hotel is a high-class hotel and many people are working and many guests who have special situation are staying. On this day, happenings are happen one after another. This movie will be broadcasted on June 7th, Saturday of this week.
He made other comedy movies. For example, “ラジオの時間(The Radio’s Time)” and “WARAINO DAIGAKU(University of laugh)”. He also produced very famous TV dramas. Every Japanese maybe knows the title,”FURUHATA NINNZABUROU” “SHINNSENNGUMI”. His latest movie is “ザ・マジックアワー(THE Magic Hour)”. This movie is releasing on June 7th.
